Students Travel in Russia

Three students (two who studied Russian with me and the other who took the class War and Peace) have pursued their interests in Russian language and culture and traveled to Russia.

Isaac Smith won an essay contest and visited three Russian cities. Isaac’s local paper interviewed him and wrote about his experience here.

Nina Wilson was sponsored by The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program in 2012. She reminisced about her travels for the NSLI site in 2014.

As a college student, Nina received a scholarship to study in the city of Vladimir in the summer of 2017. Her university website published an article about her: “Sophomore Nina Wilson heading to Russia as critical language scholarship recipient.”

Riley Price spent a year in Kazan, Russia in 2013 to 2014 through the The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program before starting college. Before his year-long stay in Kazan, he spent 6 weeks there during the summer through the same program.
